The main thoroughfare of Chinatown, Mott St., has been turned into a multi-restaurant “dining corridor.” With over 22 streets currently closed to cars on weekends to make way for expanded outdoor dining, Mott St. in Chinatown is the latest to be totally transformed into an outdoor dining patio. Mott Street, in Chinatown, was the first communal installation by DineOut NYC. These installations have worked only because they were made with donated time, labor, and materials. Following the successful openings of our pro-bono DineOut NYC on Mott Street in Manhattan’s Chinatown, as well as in Jackson Heights and Elmhurst in Queens, Rockwell Group was approached by the Third Avenue Business Improvement District and The Bronx Community Foundation to partner on a community dining installation in the South Bronx.
