Simon Krečič completed his piano studies at the Academy of Music Ljubljana in 2002 as the last graduand of Professor Aci Bertoncelj, and his postgraduate studies of piano at the Bern University of Arts under Professor Aleksandar Madžar. In September 2012 he graduated in conducting with the première and nine performances of the Ballet Evening Stravinsky in the production of Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana under Professor Milivoj Šurbek. During his postgraduate studies in Switzerland he also studied conducting under Professor Dominique Roggen. During this time he conducted several Swiss orchestras, such as the Uni Orchestra Bern, Chamber Orchestra Spiez, Orchestra of the Bern University of Arts, etc. May 2005 marked the year of his first recording as a conductor – he recorded the children's opera Schneewyttli by Rolando Zoss, for which he was presented an award later on. In the season 2006/2007 he worked as a répétiteur at the Opera of the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor. Since March 2009 when he conducted a concert as part of the Slovenian Music Days he has been a regular at the Slovenian Philharmonics, which he conducted at various concerts. He was employed by the National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana from October 2007 until December 2012.

During this time he worked as répétiteur at all performances of opera production and as assistant conductor at certain performances. In the last couple of years he has been closely working with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra where he was also employed in the season 2012/2013. He conducted the concert for the Jeunesse Musicale Ljubljana, Christmas Concerts 2010 and 2012, a concert for the Europe Day in May 2012, a Gala New Year's Concert in December 2012, a Film Music Concert in November 2013 and many other recordings. In February 2013 he conducted the concert Night of the Pianos (Noč klavirjev) which saw the performance of five piano concerts in one evening. With the same orchestra he performed music by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy at a concert from the concert series Mozartine. Simon Krečič is also known as a conductor of contemporary music. He has conducted several concerts at the Festival Slowind in Slovenia and abroad (Paris, Riga). He has performed various compositions of important Slovenian (Nina Šenk, Uroš Rojko) and foreign (Elliott Carter) composers of contemporary music and has worked with renowned soloists from abroad (Robert Aitken …).
