The Hugo Wolf Chamber Choir was founded on the 150th anniversary of the birth of composer Hugo Wolf in 2010, as part of the Cultural society of German speaking women “Mostovi”, an institution promoting the harmony between Slovenian and German culture in Maribor. Hugo Wolf attended secondary school in Maribor, where he also learned to play the violin and composed his first pieces. The choir consists of experienced singers and students of solo-singing, led by choir master Professor Aleš Marčič, and can take on the complex compositions by Hugo Wolf and other composers, both older and contemporary.

This was demonstrated at their first concert in November 2010, which was dedicated to the composers celebrating significant anniversaries that year, such as Wolf, Schuman, Liszt and Chopin. At the choir competition “In…Canto sul Garda” in 2011, the choir was awarded the golden diploma in the category “Musica Sacra”.
